I thought it would be appropriate to kick off this new cameraphone blog that I named after my love of bicycles, with a triptych I put together of the sign from an old bike shop that was once at the corner of South 3rd Street and Hooper Streets in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The shop was around the corner from my apartment, but had been closed for a long time before I moved into the neighborhood but I'd noticed it every time I went by on my bike. I imagined that it once sold a lot of BMX parts to kids in the area but it's glory days were now long gone. I always meant to have my picture taken under the sign but before I could get around to doing so it was taken down. I happened to catch the sign just as it was being put in a van to be taken who knows where. It was lucky that I even got these shots since the van guy was about to leave just as I walked by. Oh what I wouldn't do for one of those gorgeous signs to hang on a wall in a bar or in my future garage/bike-workshop. Sigh.
