Love looks uncomfortable

Harlem, last year.

The Ice Queen

Martha Stewart blesses the faithful. From a job I worked on back in October.

Wipout!

Way to go flying over your handlebars. Luckily my front wheel was fine, and so was I.

Caught a flat.

The shard of glass I pulled out of my tire today. Looks like a tiny piece of Kryptonite.

Who?

I trust the man. It's the moustache.

Ad for Chelsea Piers

I sat in a minivan for about six hours today. I did the Times crossword puzzle, listened to NPR and some music on my ipod, slept and stared at this transparency for a long time.

Cinderella III

Loud.

Bike messenger.

The first of many, most likely.

Fur coat.

Normally I'd be opposed but isn't she cute? I'm sure she was warmer than I was.

Objects in mirror...

...are backwards.

Leaves

Just some leaves.

Sweets!

On the right are Indian sweets on display in a little shop on 74th Street in Jackson Heights, Queens. On the left, a Dominican bakery at the corner of Grand Street and Union Avenue, Williamsburg Brooklyn.

Fountains of Wayne.

Wayne, New Jersey and a band.

My G train stop.

Oh G train, I do appreciate you.

Dead creatures.

All in manhattan, I think.

Guardian of the Williamsburg bridge bike path.

Magic hour.

The view from my fire escape is beautiful at twilight.

Superbikes!

I thought it would be appropriate to kick off this new cameraphone blog that I named after my love of bicycles, with a triptych I put together of the sign from an old bike shop that was once at the corner of South 3rd Street and Hooper Streets in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The shop was around the corner from my apartment, but had been closed for a long time before I moved into the neighborhood but I'd noticed it every time I went by on my bike. I imagined that it once sold a lot of BMX parts to kids in the area but it's glory days were now long gone. I always meant to have my picture taken under the sign but before I could get around to doing so it was taken down. I happened to catch the sign just as it was being put in a van to be taken who knows where. It was lucky that I even got these shots since the van guy was about to leave just as I walked by. Oh what I wouldn't do for one of those gorgeous signs to hang on a wall in a bar or in my future garage/bike-workshop. Sigh.
